Hello, my name is Tim Duncan, owner of Betty's Parkway
Restaurant, and for years people have been trying to figure out what makes
our steaks so tender and so delicious. The secret is a recipe left behind
by my mother, Betty. Betty started Betty's Parkway Restaurant in 1987
using her experience in the kitchen. She set out to come up with an item
that would get customers in the door at the restaurant, so she stumbled on
to this recipe of hers and changed a few things and what she came up with
is a marinade that will tenderize any type meat and a flavor that is so
delicious that you can't seem to get enough of it. Then she decided she
would offer something at that time no one else in town offered... a 20
ounce steak with the fatty tail trimmed off, for a finished product that
weighed 16 ounces. But she did not stop there. Then she put these steaks
in a bucket of the marinade that she had come up with and discovered an
item that did draw the crowd. Business has grown ever since.
On July 29, 1989 my mother passed away in her sleep and left behind a lot
of decisions for me to make. One of them was, do I continue the business
or do I continue to work construction?
Being her only heir I decided to continue the business and it is still
growing today.
For years the marinade we used was called just that (marinade) and for
years people have been trying to get their hands on the recipe. So I have
decided that this stuff is so good that we are going to sell it to the
public. But I did not know what to call it. So I came up with a name and
tossed it around and everyone agreed that the name fits, we call it
Betty's Best. To keep my opinion out of it I had some friends and
strangers help in testing and they have used this stuff on deer, chicken,
pork chops, rattlesnake, hamburgers and of course steak and the results
were the same every time. More tender and delicious marinated than
un-marinated and taste much better marinated than un-marinated.
Now your grill can kick out the best steak in town!!!
The marinade is mostly soy sauce but as you know most soy sauce has a kick
to it. Not ours! My mother took her time in making the product just right,
adding spices and juices that brought out the flavor of a good steak. What
my mother did not know is that this stuff is great on any type of meat!
We started selling Betty's Best over the counter at the restaurant and it
took off to the point that we had many customers suggesting we put it on
