Hello,

My name is Tim Duncan. I own a restaurant in Columbia, TN that has been around for 20 years. We have used the same logo pretty much ever since the beginning. I currently am in the process of buying a new sign. The sign is 8’ X 5’ and I have to submit my artwork to the sign company to be painted on the sign. I am holding a contest for a new LOGO.

RULES

 Size: All images submitted must be sized at 8’’ wide X  5’’ tall, FORMAT GIF AND PNG, SIZE LIMIT 1024KB,  DPI 300 pixels, resolution 300 pixels.  Please name your image to suit what it is:

IF YOU ARE DOING A LOGO ONLY, NAME THE IMAGE LIKE THIS: “yourNAME” Bettyslogo (MEANING INSERT YOUR NAME (first or last) WHERE THE QUOTES ARE AND PLEASE LEAVE QUOTES OUT OF THE NAMING PROCESS.

IF YOU ARE DOING THE ENTIRE SIGN, NAME THE IMAGE LIKE THIS OR “yourNAME” Bettyssign (this is depending on whether your image you are submitting is just a logo or an entire sign. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I need the art work you submit to be sized correctly, since it is going on an 8’ X 5’ sign, I would like all art work to be sent in at the size of 8” X 5”.

Feel free to submit both, just make sure you name them correctly.

: No specific colors, be as creative as you wish.

DO NOT SIGN IMAGES. I do not want to know who submitted the images until after I have picked a winner. Signing your images or leaving your trademark on the image will disqualify that image. Winner may add signature at a later date (added 1/2/05).

Contest will start December 29 and we will no longer accept images after April 30, 2005 MIDNIGHT CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED on the www.bettysbest.net website along with the top 25 images shortly there after and no later than May 15, 2005.

DISCLAIMER: If entries I receive are unacceptable, or if not enough entries are submitted, I will extend Contest until I deem it enough entries or the entries I have received are acceptable.

Once the winner is selected, we will contact you then for more information as to where to send prizes. I will also post the TOP 25 Images and post name recognition with them. BY SUBMITTING ARTWORK FOR THE CONTEST, YOU AGREE TO RELEASE ALL RIGHTS TO SUBMITTED ARTWORK FOR USE WITH BETTY’S PARKWAY RESTAURANT, AND THAT WE MAY USE ANY AND ALL SUBMITTED ART WORK WHETHER YOU WIN OR NOT. WINNER’S IMAGE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A COMPLETE SIGN!!!!! I AM LOOKING MORE FOR A NEW LOGO THAN I AM ANYTHING ELSE, HOWEVER THIS ENTIRE CONTEST HAS COME ABOUT BECAUSE I AM HAVING A NEW SIGN MADE. And I must come up with art work for the sign. FULL SIGN IMAGES MAYBE COMBINED LATER WITH WINNER OF LOGO IMAGE! Some people may agree that a logo is all that is needed on a sign, therefore that is why I am allowing you to create either a sign, a logo or both. I won't know which way I will select until I have had a chance to review all of the images.

You can be creative as you like and may submit as many entries as you wish as long as each entry is distinctively different.

THINGS TO KNOW:

If you look closely at our current logo, the word restaurant is barely visible, I want the ENTIRE world to know when they look at my LOGO that I am a restaurant.

We recently added Liquor By The Drink to our Establishment. While our LEGAL Name is Betty’s Parkway Restaurant, I DO WANT to change it so that it reads and stands out to : Betty’s Parkway Restaurant & Bar ((or Lounge) added 01/02/05).

You need to Know, My restaurant is a theme based type of restaurant that centers on NASCAR RACING. The floors are black and white checkered, halfway up the wall is also black & white checks, the baseboard is green, the chair rail is yellow and the crown mold is red, with a black ceiling. Every door or door opening alternates between these 3 colors as well. ( PICTURES COMING SOON!)

Our local Newspaper held a vote, where readers of the newspaper submitted votes, via snail mail for various different categories, (such as best dry cleaners in town). While the newspaper did not list businesses to be voted on, the citizens had to write in their votes on their own, for each category. Betty’s WON 2 Categories : Best Steak & Best Burger. The paper is circulated throughout the county this was considered a County Wide Vote of sorts. We currently are advertising : Best Steak in Town as voted by Maury County Citizens. OR: Voted Best Steak in Town. I would like to include both awards on my new logo as I feel it is a statement worth saying. BUT, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INCLUDE THIS ON YOUR SUBMISSION TO BE CONSIDERED!

WE HAVE ALWAYS ADVERTISED THE BEST STEAK IN TOWN, (mainly because our Customers said so) it was only recently that we actually won an award for it. ( NOTE THE KICKIN OUT THE BEST STEAKS IN TOWN TEXT AT BOTTOM OF OUR CURRENT LOGO, that has been part of our logo for many years now).

 Our reputation in town: We are known as a family style restaurant that serves Breakfast, Plate lunches, Dinner and Supper at reasonable prices. Our servers are friendly and we try to make everyone feel welcome and wanted.

We also do CATERING but have never advertised it much. But it is something I want to pursue more and advertise more.

A good friend of mine has offered to handle the emails of images. Please contact him with any questions or problems you may encounter with submitting images @ yoops_2@yahoo.com . It is very important to me that I do not know who submitted images. I want to pick the best image for what it is, NOT who it is.

Please feel free to be as creative as you wish with anything from cartoon cows to cars or whatever you like. Be creative, But at the same time keep in mind this is for a business sign. Attracting the publics attention is a priority here.
